Support for the South Peru Panel

The company recently completed two studies for the South Peru Panel on gas operations in Peru.

The first study is a comparative assessment of the impacts on deforestation and Greenhouse Gasses Emissions of roadless hydrocarbon activities, when compared with alternative development models in the Peruvian Amazon (illegal mining, cattle ranching and oil palm). The study was based on change detection analysis using temporal Landsat TM imagery and default data from IPCC 2003. A summary of the results will be available shortly for use by the South Peru Panel.

The second study is a review of the best practices on biodiversity monitoring implemented by Peru LNG through a collaborative effort with the Smithsonian Institute. For this study we received full support from the Smithsonian Institute’s team in Lima Peru and Washington DC.
